Battery Saver review from Android Headlines

batterysaver
If there’s one thing about our smartphones we hate, it’s that their batteries are awful. Not all of them but, if you were to think back to the days of Nokia phones you’d no doubt remember battery life that lasted for days on end. These days a lot of us are lucky if our phone even makes it through a full day and I know that I’m struggling to get the most out of my current smartphone. It’s a real shame that, in order to get the most battery life out of your device you’ve got to micro-manage your Android smartphone and that can get really tedious, really quickly. What if there were an app that could help you do this without having to deal with all the hassle? Read on to find out if Battery Saver – Extra Power is the app that can help you.
Description: With a 4.5 star rating on the Play Store, Battery Saver promises to get your battery through the day by intelligently dealing with your network connectivity, screen time out and brightness. When it comes to battery life, it’s often the little things like this that add up through the day. There are a number of different stages to optimize battery and depending on your situation can be a real life-saver when you need that juice the most. It’s an application designed to be easy for everyone to use and it’s super easy to get your battery on the right track to lasting longer. With a welcoming UI and emphasis on ease of use, Battery Saver could be the best battery extender for you. Read on to find out how to get started with Batter Saver.
How it Works: To get started with the app, you’ll have to go and download it from the Play Store and that’s about it, then you’re ready to start saving that precious battery power. It’s a good idea to start using the app off of a fresh charge, that way you might get an idea of how much battery saving you’re really doing.

As you can see there’s a lot of info relating to your battery that could be helpful, it’ll straight away tell you if you have a healthy battery which is always a good start as no matter how good an app is, an unhealthy battery is never going to work well – Battery Saver tells yo right away. It’s from here that you can change which saving mode you want to activate but hitting the button that says “Normal” – which will change depending on what mode you’re on.
2013-01-09 07.31.56What’s nice here is that the modes are quickly and easily laid out for you so you can simply turn the phone into whatever mode you want, whenever you need it. For instance you can make sure you never miss a call or SMS but also have enough power to last and you can go even further and put the phone into a sort of hibernation for those times when you’re going to be really far away from an outlet. For me, I need to stay connected for e-mails, messages and that sort of thing so I’m going to go with the “Smart Saving” option because I think it’s going to work best for me.
2013-01-09 07.33.36Here you can see all of the aspects that Battery Saver is going to control or monitor in order to keep your battery use down. Smart Saving is a good option for those that want to save a little battery power but want to keep their usage more or the less the same. For the most part Smart Saving does little but turns the brightness down, adjusts screen-off timing and haptic feedback. Which might not sound like a lot but it’s these little things that will add up to a little extra battery at the end of the day. If you need to get even longer out of your battery then there are other modes you can try, like Extreme Saving, take a look to see what Extreme Saving will control on your phone:
2013-01-11 13.37.17As you can see, Battery Saver will take of some more aspects in order to save more battery when in this mode and while there’s no specifics on just what the app does, it did seem to make a difference. I’m not going to go through battery graphs or anything like that because my usage is perhaps very different from yours and so as with a lot of things, you need to give this a go to see how it might benefit you.
Opinion: I’m the time of person that might not spend too much time using my phone, especially at the office but considering HTC have some real issues when it comes to battery like my best option for getting more out of it is to use an app like this. It’s either that or I have to micro-manage the battery on my One X and I really don’t want to do that. During the day I’m mostly using my phone for the odd phone call, SMS messaging, e-mail and a little web browsing. That’s about it but my battery is pretty terrible, through the use of Battery Saver I’ve noticed a little extra juice left over at the end of the day when I come, it might not be much but if I were to choose a different battery saving method I would probably get a lot more out of it.
Ratings
  • Speed (4/5) – Battery Saver is a quick app and there were no problems with it during my use.
  • Features (4/5) – For a battery app, there’s a lot on offer here and while it might not have as much as others it’s very simple to use.
  • Theme (4/5) – There’s a good-looking theme on offer here that’s easy to understand and take in.
  • Overall (4/5) – As Battery apps go, battery saver is perhaps the easiest to squeeze some more power out of your smartphone for those extended periods away from an outlet.
Pros
  • With a friendly interface this is an app that is going to appeal to everyone and will be easy to grasp.
  • Simple, one-touch application of different battery profiles makes switching real easy.
  • With a number of different profiles you’ll be able to get a little extra juice to a lot of battery life when you need it most.
Cons
  • Being able to see just what Battery Saver is doing would be really nice.
Conclusion: If you’re the type of person that is disappointed in your smartphone’s battery life and need to get a little extra from it then this is a good option and could really help you out in a bind. After all, we can’t all have Droid RAZR MAXX HDs now can we? With Battery Saver you can enjoy a normal experience with your phone or you can go ahead and really eke out all the battery life you need through the “Extreme Saving” mode. I might have a phone that doesn’t do well with battery life but even if the battery life on your phone is good, this could make it that little better and when you’re under 30% and know you’ll be away from an outlet this could make the wait bearable. Go ahead and give the app a try, it is free after all!
